While we1, the intelligentsia *cough* college graduates, which I count myself as a member of, often hold unique viewpoints that may deviate from the standard societal norms, I recognize that my perspective might not entirely coincide with that of a Southern Baptist or someone managing a pecan plantation. It's important to note, however, that because I'm located in Boston, New England, thousands of miles away from the southern or northern borders, I don't get to witness the real-life struggles of migrants trudging through dirt and blood with their children.

Contrary to the experiences of those in the working class, I am not constantly concerned about job competition. The threat for these people often comes from immigrants who have fewer financial commitments such as student loans or medical debt. This unfortunate economic dynamic limits the bargaining power of workers in establishments like Wal-Mart or Dairy Queen. They can't demand higher wages because there's always someone ready to wo…
